Since everyone is hoarding everything under the sun, percussion caps are no exception. I’ve been forced to convert all my muzzleloaders to 209 ignition. I’ve tried them all and these are the only ones that don’t stick in the nipples. They burn clean, fast and hot!!! They don’t gunk up the gun either. Sure fire every time!!!

Between the 777 and the Winchester 209 the Federal was the only 209’s that worked with my Black Horn powder without hang fires or failures. I highly recommend these Federal 209’s if you want to make sure you have great ignition. I used this only so far out of my CVA V2 Optima Pistol .50 cal. with the Black Horn Plug.

I used to load cci bench rest and while they worked fine I bought some on a whim, I noticed that in 500 rounds stretched through all three rifles no other variable has changed and my loads all went down 2+ Sd points. With these primers I get sub 5 sd’s across 10 to 15 rounds and have yet to have a bad primer, which I used to get at least 1/100 with cci. I’m sold as soon as there is a hazmat sale, I’ll buy 15,000 of them. they are smooth feeding in my hornady ap for 300aac too which is a plus to only have to buy one kind of primer across the board for all my rifles

These are the best on the market. I shoot competition and these are very reliable and accuate. They are hard to find so by them in bulk. Put your S&W 40 in the little small circle time after time.

The Federal primers have a closer tolerance than Winchester or CCI. Hand-loads are more consistent shot to shot. Little variation in speed (chronograph)

So far these are the best primers I have used. The combination of bullet, powder, and seating depth are giving less that 1″ group at 200 yards.

In my 45 Colt with 2400 and my 10mm with Blue Dot results have been very good. Velocities and SD seem to be more consistent than I’ve gotten with Remington primers. I’ve heard the old adage “It’s a primer, it works.” True, but with diligent attention to powder charge and bullet seating these primers do seem to have a slight edge on others I’ve used.

I’ve been able to produce accurate, consistent loads with these primers in the .44 Mag. They load easy in the cases with the hand priming system I use. I’ve made some small changes in the powder charges I was using, to achieve a better load than I had. The extra price is worth it for the results I received. I will buy this primer again for future loads.
